A Farm House Story: Part 1 of 4: A Love Tryst

It was originally written as a single short story but it may have been a little long at 47 pages for a single online read. The story has been broken up into 4 chapters in this version to make it a more reasonable online reading experience.

There are some brutal scenes that I tried to make less brutal but still be entertaining. There are lots of erotic/ romantic scenes that I tried to make as entertaining as possible.

If David didn’t achieve all his objectives over the long Labor Day week end he would have great fun trying. Thursday afternoon he finally clicked the file save button for the process description on using one of the company’s new model dosing pumps for a boiler feed water treatment application, put the file on the server, and powered down the computer. After a final visit to the men’s room, he picked up his keys and did his final walk through to end the work day. Karine was still at her desk. He wanted to take a last look for the day at her pretty face, took a half step into her office, and told her he would see her tomorrow. With Friday being devoted to Bill’s brain numbing division quarterly update dog and donkey show for all practical purposes Thursday marked the end of the part of his work week requiring actual focus. He wanted to pick up a spare string for his old recurve bow, a new shooting glove, nocks, glue, fletches, and some more arrows at the archery supply store on his way home, so he could get going right away after work Friday. Katherine was flying to Boston Friday morning and would be there for a week. He had an aggressive plan for the week end but without having to spend time keeping Kathy happy there was a reasonable chance of success.

His new bow hadn’t been out of the case he bought for it since he brought it home and he needed to become familiar with all the special features. For the last two bow seasons, he had been shopping for a compound and after a lot of time spent on line shopping and visiting different stores had settled on a camouflaged model that had some quick tuning features to allow adjusting the bow for top performance when needed in the midst of a hunt. With a forecast of cooler if not cold days and the wife being in Boston next week, it would be a good time to go to the farm for practice and familiarization. The special bow hunting season was coming up and since he hadn’t used a compound to hunt before, he wanted to make sure that when the opportunity presented itself he was ready to make a clean kill shot. The old bow was still adequate but the new bow had more shaft speed and knock down power which would increase the likelihood of a shot being a kill shot. But to be a kill shot, it had to hit the target in the right spot. He thought that becoming proficient with a compound would take a while but felt there were significant advantages that made it worth the effort.

Since nobody else would be at the farm over the weekend, he was planning on driving up after work, staying the week end, and returning late Monday or early enough Tuesday morning to go straight to the office. Drive time between the farm and the office was about an hour and a half; if necessary he could go back to the farm during the week to finish straightening up after his visit. Other than food and clothes, everything else that was needed was already at the farm. Provisions for the week end were packed so he wouldn’t need to pick up much except some beer. He liked the dark brews from the brewery in Jacksboro. They weren’t available anywhere else except the brewery. The locals provided plenty of demand for their brews which allowed the owners to concentrate on their real interest of brewing great beers instead of making money. He had purchased two of his own half gallon bottles from the brewery so could just pop in and get a half gallon of one or two different brews for just a refill fee.

Growing up on the farm with parents, grandparents, brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles, and a passel of cousins, he prized his alone time. Life in the city was something he tolerated but given a choice David would choose time in the countryside where he grew up over spending time in the city. The income from his job in the city was the main reason that he continued to live there instead of the country. Kathy could tolerate being away from big city life for only a little time. She came from some big if not great money and if he wanted to continue the benefits of her family’s wealth had to keep her happy.

Friday morning, the meeting was getting started when he got to the conference room. This was one of the most boring and useless things that they did but Bill seemed to get a kick out of getting up in front of the group and talking about how great everything was. For everyone else except those jockeying for position and making a run for the roses, the biggest benefits were lunch and not being expected to do anything except nod from time to time to show that they agreed that things were indeed wonderful. The hardest thing about the meetings was remaining attentive so that if Bill addressed you, you could respond intelligently. He used these meetings to practice his presentation before he had to get up in front of the executive vice president’s blood thirsty band. Because David had taken Katherine to the airport and was a little later than usual getting to the office, there weren’t any seats in the back looking out toward the windows but he was lucky enough to find a seat facing the inside wall with the large white presentation screen where he could see Sharon and Mary. They had two of the best chests in the office. Sharon was gay but that was irrelevant since going to bed with her was not in his plans. Mary was young. In any other situation, he probably wouldn’t even look twice at her but here she was eye candy and much more pleasant to pay attention to than Bill’s drivel. She did have a great body: a heart shaped butt on top of shapely legs, a narrow waste, and a duo of great tits. Friday he was happy to see that she was wearing the black and white pull over he liked to see her in since it made it easier to see her breasts. She was sitting across the table from David in front of the screen but a little farther back from the front. Sharon was wearing a light tan blouse. “So what do you have planned this week end?”

Susan had all the charm of a rotting dead rat. How had he gotten so unlucky to have her sit down next to him? Oh well, at least he had Sharon and Mary to look at. He despised her and felt sorry for her husband, Jerry Becker. Individually each was irritating but together they were two obnoxious leaches. She was always sucking up to people, trying to get them to say something that she could use as a spicy bit of gossip to improve her relationship with the bosses. He knew he had to be cordial. You could dislike someone enough to tell them to shove barbed wire up their ass but you couldn’t say it. Playing nicely with the other children was a key part of surviving in this environment. He turned his head just enough to answer her.

“I‘m planning to go to the family farm this week end.”

“So where is this farm?”

David didn’t want to tell Susan any more than he had to.

“A long way from the office. Over a half day’s drive southwest. Almost to Bracketville.”

Karine had come in and taken a seat next to Susan. After eavesdropping on his conversation with Kathy on Thursday, what stuck out in her mind was that Kathy was going to get to escape the Fort Worth heat for a week in Boston. And, she wished she had a farm to go to for the week end. The confines of the city were especially oppressive after experiencing the full fury of Fort Worth’s summer heat for more than four months. At least if she were out in the country she would be free of the crowds and it could be a little cooler in the country without all the high-density paving and lower humidity.

Susan continued to pry into his plans, trying to dig up some sordid and tasty gossip bites.

“Have you owned the farm for long?”

David had stopped listening, “Why do you need to know all this?

“I will answer this one last question about the farm.

“I don’t own it outright. I own an interest in it along with my brother and sister. It was my grandparents and then my father’s. When he passed away, he left ownership to his children in the hope that someone would continue to work the farm.”

“So has anyone continued to work the farm?”

David clenched his fists and bit down on his tongue. He took a deep breath, exhaled slowly, and turned his body to look directly at her. To say something nasty to her would be a bad move. Maybe he should put his coffee closer to her and spill it on her by “accident”. He looked around at the people near them at the table looking for someone to pass Susan off to. There was no one that he disliked enough to do that. He turned and glared directly at Susan. If he had been Superman, his stare would have turned her into ashes.

“I really need to get ready for the weekend and don’t have time to answer any more questions for you about something that’s really not your business.

“I told you that was the last question. Why don’t you pay attention to your own affairs?”

“It was just an innocent question. Don’t be so sensitive.”

“I’ve worked around you long enough to know you don’t ask innocent questions. So, unless you want me go over your head, I suggest you drop this entire conversation because I am about out of patience and I’ve asked you to keep your nose out of my business as pleasantly as I feel is warranted.”

Bill had been listening to Susan and David’s conversation. He could tell David wanted to slap Susan across the face and tell her to shut up. He stepped in.

“Susan, I think you should drop the conversation. I agree with David. It is not your business. He has been more patient with you than I would have been. So why don’t you stay focused on something that is your business, your job.”

Susan looked like she had just been swatted across the face. She had to get the last word in.

“I was just trying to be nice.”

Bill was not about to be bamboozled.

“Horse shit, Susan. Why don’t you go splash cold water on your face and wake up? And get me a glass of cold water while you’re at it.”

Bill gave David a thumbs up and a couple of fist pumps. David put his hands together and gave him a head bow thanking him. Bill gave David an even more enthusiastic thumbs up showing that he was glad to have been able to step in to help protect a valuable technical resource.

Susan came back in with a glass of cold water red faced and put it on the table next to Bill. As coldly as she could say it she turned to David.

“That sounds really nice. Well it sounds like Bill wants to start. Enjoy your week end.”

There was no way David could have been colder and civil at the same time.

“Susan, I have tried my best to be nice and pleasant in responding to your questions about something that I think you have no business inquiring about.”

Susan turned to Bill red faced.

“Bill, he’s being ugly to me. I was just being friendly. I want him fired.”

Bill glared at Susan.

“Susan, sit down and shut up. If you want to keep your job sit down and shut up. Now!”

“I was just trying to be nice.”

“Do not speak. You got a really smart mouth but little to go with it. I’ve had enough of your crap. If you say one more word to anyone in this meeting that’s not directly related to your assigned work, I will kick you out the door myself. Do you understand? You will be fired right now. Don’t even shake your head. One more word not related to your job and you are fired.”

Susan glared at Bill. She started to speak.

Bill’s neck muscles bulged up like he was a lizard about to gobble a bug, his eyes looked like they would pop out of his head he was glaring back so hard, and he held his hand up palm side out facing Susan.

“Not even a syllable, Susan! Not even one more syllable.”

Susan looked down at the table. It was obvious to everyone who had seen all of this going on that she wanted to say something else. She wrote something on her notepad, tore the page out, and as angrily as she could proceeded to tear it in halves and then quarters., When she couldn’t tear it into smaller pieces, she finally tore out another page, wadded everything up, and threw it in the trash can.

Bill was even more pissed and walked to look out the window to avoid saying his words to anyone directly.

“One more word! One more word! Just one more goddam word! Goddam it! One more fucking word and then bring the rack, cut out the tongue, and stick it up her ass so far it will come out her fucking nose!”

He looked out the windows for over a minute. And turned back to look at Susan. His words could have been molten lava capable of igniting anything it touched.

“Susan. Go sit at the receptionist desk and look impertinence up. Write an essay of at least 300 words about impertinence and whether or not your behavior just now has met the definition of impertinence and whether or not that type of behavior is beneficial to this office’s operation. If you don’t think it meets the definition say that too and why you feel it did not. Print out a hard copy and put a signed and dated copy of your essay on my desk. I will read it on my flight home tonight. If I am satisfied with your essay you will keep your job. If not, on Tuesday you may not be looking for a job, but you won’t have this one. I don’t want to see your face in this room again today. And you better do everything else you are supposed to do or I will fire you before I even leave today.”

She got up and stamped out of the room.

After another minute looking out the window, he turned to the rest of the people in the meeting.

“It’s a long week end. Moving on.”

Bill shook his head to clear it, sat quietly for a bit, took some deep breaths, and started the meeting. First he presented information about the sales and revenue figures for the latest quarter pausing from time to time to point to the graph projected on the screen, make a gesture, or address some unlucky member of the captive audience. After David successfully responded to Bill’s question directed at him, he knew he wouldn’t be called on again. Now he could stop paying attention to the presentation, look at the outline of Sharon’s tits, and imagine what they would look like if she were naked. Bill continued to pepper the audience with questions. But the reality was that the Fort Worth office was given the dirty gritty work those higher up the corporate food chain either couldn’t or wouldn’t do. Bill knew the value of the Fort Worth office to the company’s operations. It was a great benefit to him to have an asset capable of completing high quality work effectively and economically. The big joke around the office was that Fred was a foreman on a plantation and Bill was the absentee plantation owner. It was humorous to watch how Fred groveled whenever Bill was around but as soon as Bill left, Fred would make life miserable for everyone until someone gave him a scrap to make him shift his focus.

David thought,

No Jim and no Fred yet.

Maybe they are out of the office. So far, so good.

Maybe we’ll go straight to a break today.

The meeting organizer, Wayne, was announcing that there was going to be a break but everyone needed to be back in 20 minutes because there would be a writing class after it and they had a tight schedule. Several trays of breakfast pastries, fruits, and breakfast tacos had been placed on the cabinets in the hall outside the meeting room. Chocolate and almond filled bear claws were his favorite and it looked like they had some today. He would just have to beat Susan to them. She was one of those people who spent freely as long as it was someone else’s money being spent. He was in luck! She was typing furiously at the receptionist desk.

“Those look tasty.”

He knew from the clipped English accent that it was Karine’s voice so he looked up.

“I was hoping they would have some. Coffee, chocolate, and toasted almonds. Can I put one on a plate for you?”

“Yes. Do you want some coffee?”

“Yes. Thank you very much.”

“Let’s go sit down so others can get to the food.”

She was his favorite in the office. Each of them was an application engineer and they had enjoyed each other’s company during their New Jersey trip. After their return, they continued to interact on a little friendlier than necessary basis. Given the chance he would go to bed with her but she didn’t seem interested so he never pressed the issue. She had gotten her education in England and since this was her first job in the US as an engineer she consulted with him regularly on technical issues and to understand common US terminology. Sometimes it seemed like she was just coming by because she wanted to see him but at other times she really needed his help in understanding how the processes they were developing solutions for worked. Talking to her was always a welcome break so he didn’t mind a bit.

“So you’re going to the country this week end? I heard you telling Susan. The farm sounds very nice. I wouldn’t mind having a place like that to go to for the week end.

“Does anyone work the farm?”

“Yes but not exactly how my father envisioned it. We have it let out to a sharecropper. He works the farm and pays us to use the land. It works out pretty good for everyone. There is an old farm house with a big fireplace and country kitchen that the children use for vacations and get togethers. The sharecropper puts in a big garden every year and we get fresh produce from it when we’re at the farm. Since he goes by the place often, we don’t worry about someone breaking into the house or vandalism.

“My parents didn’t exactly lead a rough life on the farm. They had a deck and hot tub installed. It can be really nice during the winter after hunting to sit and relax in the hot tub after a tasty venison steak with a drink.

“It’s a good relaxing break from the city. And really not too far. I’m planning on staying there over the week end. This being a long week end I won’t need to come back until Tuesday morning.”

“I thought I heard you tell Susan it was over a half day drive. How far is it?”

“I just told her that because I don’t think it is any of her business and I don’t like or trust her. It’s northwest of Fort Worth near Jermyn. About 80 miles.”

“That’s smart. I don’t trust her either. What do you do while you’re there?”

“Take walks, watch birds. Cook something good to eat. This week end I plan to spend some time getting familiar with my new bow.”

The break was just about over. Wayne droned on about everyone getting back to their seats.

As they took their places, David saw Sharon looking Karine over. She had started out wanting Karine as a lover and had been fairly aggressive and persistent in her pursuit. Several invitations for dinner had been refused and she had even arranged a trip with Karine to Philadelphia. The offers and refusals had caused the nature of the game to change from a horny lesbian in pursuit of a sexual encounter to a competitive sport to be won even though the spoils of the victory would no longer justify the time and effort of the chase.

The prize had pretty almond shaped tobacco brown eyes and kept her reddish brown hair cut just to her shoulders in one of the latest styles to frame her lovely face. If Mary were eye candy, Karine was a whole box of assorted chocolates, cookies, and white chocolate dipped berries. She was almost 30 and kept her body fit with Yoga classes twice a week and running on the week-ends. Her clothes were always stylish and fun; she was comfortable wearing a hand dyed tee shirt with a pair of jeans and a jacket or a cute black cocktail dress with pumps. Her figure was adorably tight with curves and assets just the right size and shape.

For him, knowing a little of her mentally made her even sexier. Her dry, witty English humor was a little difficult for some people to take but he liked her sharp wit and incisive comments. Sometimes the bitching about work related things got a little hard to take and it seemed like she was talking to him as a husband instead of as a co-worker. Overall the result was a sexuality between them that others weren’t aware of.

The training session on writing system descriptions was winding down and it was almost lunch time. Back in his office, he saw that the voice mail light was on. He thought it was probably Kathy telling him she was in Boston so he would go ahead and get his lunch and check it when he came back to the office to eat. They wanted him to stay in the conference room with the other workers but he found the constant you have to be nice and courteous conversations irritating and boring. All he wanted to do was eat his lunch and be left alone.

Friday was turning out to be a great day for David’s food preferences. They had brought in chicken fried steaks, mashed potatoes, green beans, corn bread, and chocolate brownies for lunch. The smell of the steak, the look of the peppery white cream gravy, and the sight of a big yellow square of cornbread on his plate made his mouth water. He took a big whiff, cut into the chicken fried steak, and dipped it in the gravy as Karine came in.

“Do you mind if I join you?”

He swallowed the bit of steak and answered her.

“I would like that.”

As she set down her plate, her lunch packet fell to the floor. When she leaned over, her blouse dropped enough for him to see her breasts and the light tan bra she was wearing underneath her brown shirt. The tan color next to her white breasts made it hard to see where her bra ended and her breasts began but there was no doubt that he was looking at some great looking breasts.

As her fingers grasped the lunch packet, she looked up. He turned his head to look away but was too slow to avoid her catching him checking out her tits.

“Do you see anything you like?”

He hadn’t been prepared for her question or the embarrassment of getting caught. It took him a second to pull himself back together.

“I wouldn’t say that I like something I see but I like someone I see.”

“And do you think you would like to see more of that someone this week end?”

He wondered where this was leading and thought for a moment before answering.

“Undoubtedly.”

“About how long does it take to reach the farm?”

“About an hour and a half depending on whether you know the short cuts and where the speed traps are.”

“Is it fairly easy to find?”

“Pretty easy if you stay with main roads. You just go northwest on 199 to 281. About 10 miles past the 114 west turn off to Jermyn you turn off to go west for about 12 miles. The farm is out in country away from any incorporated area overlooking a lake. You turn left at a mailbox with Jackson’s farm on it and follow the gravel road to the farm house. It’s surrounded by large pecans and oaks. Some must be over 150 years old.”

He wasn’t sure what to make of Karine’s next remark but as the conversation continued thought it had the possibility of leading to something good.

“Mark took the kids to Florida to visit grandparents this morning. He will be there all next week.

“Do you think you might like to have company this week end at the farm?”

“If it were you, I would love for you to come to the farm this week end. My only concern is that you might get bored.”

“I don’t think that will happen. I just wouldn’t want to get in the way of you enjoying yourself.

“If I were to travel to the farm this afternoon after work, is there any place to get something to eat at that time of day?”

“It’s a farm and we hunt. We have access to freshly picked garden produce and there is always game of some type. Do you like venison?”

“Of course.”

“What about shrimp?”

“Shrimp is one of my favorites.”

Their conversation had taken the better part of their lunch break so they quickly downed enough of the meal to make it to the afternoon break.

As they tossed the used lunch materials in the trash Karine wanted to make her meaning clear to him and make sure she wasn’t misinterpreting their conversation.

“Maybe this week end will be fun and exciting?”

“I hope I’m not misinterpreting our conversation. Tell me again that you would enjoy shrimp and venison if you come to the farm after work today.”

“I love shrimp and venison. And I’m sure you can make something good for me to eat if I travel to the farm after work.”

“I’m more excited about this week end than I was before.”

“I know I am.”

The rest of the afternoon was excruciating. He kept reviewing their lunch time conversation over and over in his mind making sure he hadn’t heard what he wanted instead of what had been said. The after lunch session was about something he could do without even concentrating which allowed him to keep replaying the lunch break. When he remembered her bending down to pick up her lunch packet and seeing her breasts it was hard for him to think about anything else.

At the afternoon break, he printed out a map, wrote his cell phone number on it with a note to call him before she left, and put it on her desk next to the phone.

It was Susan’s job to deliver messages taken during the quarterly meetings. As she put one for Karine next to the phone she noticed the map and recognized the cell number.

She thought this might be an opportunity to get some useful scoop on Karine and David, rushed to the copier, made herself a copy, and returned the original to Karine’s desk. With the right information, they may be able to get a favor or money from those two. She would talk to Jerry.

You embarrassed me in front of Bill and everyone else and I was just being nice.

You will wish you had been nicer to me!

The meeting was scheduled to end at 330. Bill skipped the usual question answer session so he could get an early start on his week end and the meeting ended at 230. He went by his office, saw Susan’s essay, picked up a couple of pieces of paper the same size as the ones Susan’s essay had been printed on, folded them in half length-wise, and locked his office door as he left with it still on his desk. Reading her essay would wait until next week or the next time he was at the Fort Worth office. As he walked by Susan seated at the receptionist desk he made a point of slapping his leg with the folded pieces of paper. In the cab to airport he smiled to himself. If she worried about it all week end it would be fine with him. He was looking forward to having a shot and a cold beer at the airport bar. David wanted to get going after the meeting and 10 minutes later left for the farm in his black pick up. He wanted to make sure that the house was presentable.

As he drove, he kept replaying the conversation and seeing her breasts and tan bra.

She hadn’t called so he wondered if she was coming. About 345 his cell rang. He recognized the ring tone and pulled over.

“Hi Karine. How’s it going?”

“Hi David. It’s Karine. I didn’t get to call before I left. I’m on 199 at some town called Springtown.”

“I am about 20 minutes in front of you. I’ll wait for you if you want.”

“I don’t think that’s necessary. The map seems clear enough and I have your phone number. I’ll call if I get lost and need to be rescued.”

“Ok. I expect to be at the farm in about 25 minutes or so.

“The reason I wanted you to call is to give you heads up. There is a prison near Jacksboro and one near Bridgeport so don’t pick up any hitchhikers.”

“I normally wouldn’t anyway but thanks. From here about how much longer to drive?”

“Probably a little more than 45 minutes. I’ll get some water ready so that we can boil up some shrimp after you get there.”

“I’ll see you in about an hour.”

The next hour or so flew by. As he entered the driveway, he was relieved to note that no one seemed to be around including the sharecropper. At 410 he pulled up at the house, opened the door off the porch, and did a walk through. Everything inside looked good. Once he had put the provisions in the refrigerator and moved his clothes into the master bed room he powered up the hot tub, adjusted the thermostat, and checked the water chemistry.

A little past 445, he had a pot with water and spices warming up on low heat when he saw a dark blue sedan turn onto the gravel road. When the car was close enough, he could tell it was Karine. As he descended the stairs to the lawn, he motioned to her to park toward the back of the house on the other side of his truck. He didn’t want his relatives relating to Kathy how someone’s dark blue sedan had been parked in front of the house. Once she had parked as he directed, he offered his hand to help her out of the car. He knew she didn’t need his help. It was a ruse; he wanted to start touching her as soon as he could. The feel of her soft, warm hands, the memory of her breasts, and her sweet female fragrance were already turning him on.

“Let me get some things out of the back seat.”

He was so amped up that she was there that he had to focus on to make sure he heard her correctly.

“I brought some red wine since I didn’t know if you would have any.”

Opening the back door, he retrieved the bag of groceries and she picked up a red overnight bag. At the top of the porch stairs, she noted the broad white porch, swing, and hammock.

I want to spend a lot of time on this porch this week end.

They entered the entry hall from the porch and walked to the kitchen.

David asked, “Shall I unpack the groceries?”

“I brought some salmon. So, it should be put in the refrigerator. And I prefer my wine cooler than room temperature.”

“Is it all right if I take the bag to the master bed room?”

“Sure. Is there room for me to unpack my clothes? I hate having to pack and unpack a bag when I go someplace.”

“We have plenty of room. Can I show you later?”

“Of course. I’m not in a hurry.”

He returned to the kitchen and wondered if she would like something to drink.

“You’re probably spitting cotton after the drive. Can I get you something to drink?”

“That’s cute. I’ve never heard being thirsty referred to as spitting cotton.

“If you have a cold beer, I would like that.”

“Would you like it in a chilled mug?”

“That sounds wonderful.”

He took out a mug from the freezer. It was so cold that it smoked as the frozen crystals sublimed and vanished and a little ice formed on the bottom and then floated to the top as he poured the beer. He noticed her watching him.

“Do you see anything you like?”

She put her hands on his shoulders, gave him a small kiss on the mouth, and in a soft but firm voice let him know.

“This week end, I would like to see much more of the person I am seeing right now.
