BACKGROUND TO OUR STORY……….
It was 1992 when my family moved to live close by to my cousin Lila, who was about the same age. My name is Jonathon but my family has always called me Johnny. Our mothers are sisters. Lila’s mother is about one year older than my mother. Lila and I are only children. We attended different schools. Lila attended a private girl’s school. I liked visiting Lila’s house – it had a big swimming pool. My mother and I would visit their house and Lila and her mother would visit us. Lila and I became quite close. We seemed to like to do the same things.

…COLLEGE – A NEW PHASE
We had decided to move in to the apartment a week before classes started. Our parents came as well to see us settled in and help transport our gear – not that we had much. Lila and I drove in my car as we thought we would be able to manage with one car.
We had an exciting day showing our parents over the Campus and where we expected to be taking classes. Our mums and Lila explored the local shopping areas while our dads helped me with setting up our gear in our bedrooms.
Luckily, both Lila and I had been able to transfer our jobs to the branches of our employers that were in the shopping Mall near us.
After our parents had gone, Lila and I were left to contemplate this new phase of our lives. Her bags were ready to sort at her leisure.
She took my hand and we wandered from one bedroom to the next. We particularly liked the fact that each bedroom had its own study facility. We would be able to keep our books, assignments and projects completely separate.
In her bedroom, Lila stripped off what little clothes she was wearing …..”it will be great here…….I can go naked all the time!”
She put her arms around my waist…..”if you want to cuddle a nude body then you need to get rid of these.” At which point she pushed my shorts and unders to the ground, leaving me to get rid of the t-shirt. Squeezing my hand, Lila said “although we have our own rooms we can always have ‘stay-overs’
……..I feel like a shower now……….want to share? ………. to celebrate a new beginning.”
Great! I grabbed my things and followed Lila to her bathroom.
This would be the first time we had showered together since her return. Both being older when Lila returned from overseas, we always used the bathroom separately. I always had a feeling that she was keeping something ‘until later’.
Lila suggested we shower together only for special occasions, such as birthdays, anniversaries, end of exams. As far as I was concerned every day was a special occasion, however, something was better than nothing. I followed her in to the shower. She looked at me, placed her hand around my dick and exclaimed that there was not really room for three of us at the one time. A full 8 inches was sticking way out. Somehow we managed!
We had just settled into this new and independent routine when classes started. The first week was somewhat hectic sorting timetables. Lila and I had decided that if it was possible to schedule a day free of classes we would try and make it the same day.
After dinner and chores finished, I was at my desk sorting through course material and timetables to make sure everything was correct. After a couple of hours I decided to have a shower. A few minutes later the shower door opened and Lila’s voice said “share a shower”! She stepped right in and we had the ‘three’s a crowd’ problem again.
I said to her that I thought we were to do this only for special occasions. She replied it was a special occasion – the end of first week of classes! After drying off Lila threw herself on my bed completely naked and said……”stay-over?” and climbed under the covers. I walked towards the bed with my PJ’s in my hand. She took them off me and said “you won’t need these, this warm weather.”
It took longer to get to sleep that night!
We quickly settled into a new routine of classes and our casual jobs.
Some 6 months after our move to the apartment, late Friday, we drove back home for my mother’s birthday. We stayed at our respective houses for the weekend before returning.
…A PROPOSAL
It was good to be back together in the apartment. I mentioned to Lila that it would have been good to have stayed together, in either of our old rooms.
Lila responded “…..we can do that when we’re marri……………..oops!”
She did not finish the sentence- she just looked at me – one of those looks that made her irresistible.
“What were you saying Lila? It sounded to me like you were going to say “….married”.
……. “it just started to ‘slip’ out of my mouth’”.
I had previously experienced many times when things just ‘slipped’ out of her mouth.
“You want to be married?” I responded.
My mind was racing. We had never talked about love. Often the word ‘like’ was used but never – ‘love’.
After all, we were first cousins. Over the last 12 months this fact had, on and off, played on my mind. Also, we had not even finished first year of college.
Putting her arms tightly around my waist, she looked into my eyes and said “I am sure you love me Johnny….. and you must know I love you. I want to be with you forever….you do love me, don’t you?….of course, if you don’t want to marry me…………!”
Tears of joy started to run down my cheeks. I had just been proposed to by the most gorgeous, intelligent, witty and caring girl whom I loved dearly and probably had, for as long as I could remember.
I wrapped my arms around her and held her as if we were one.
“Of course I do, there is nothing I would want more.”
Then I was jolted back to reality….
“But Lila, we are cousins. What are our parents going to say?”
“Don’t worry about it; there is no law, in the State, against cousins marrying. In any case I do not think our parents will object” she replied.
Lila then said she wanted to tell me about a conversation she had with her mother about a year ago.
“I had said to Mum how sweet you had been with me that day. I cannot remember what my comment related to.
She said to me “you know Johnny’s in love with you don’t you?………..and you are in love with him……….when I see you two together it is very obvious”.
I then asked Mum why, if you loved me, you had not pressured me for intercourse or even hinted it.
I explained how some girls at school had said how their boyfriends told them they loved them and wanted them to have full sex. When they declined, the boyfriends, over a couple of weeks, would lose interest and stop contacting them.
Mum said that you understood perfectly why we were not doing so and respected my decision. She concluded by saying “that is true love, Lila. You are a lucky girl to have it”.
I explained to Mum that for me, intercourse was to celebrate a special event. I asked whether I was too old fashioned thinking like this”.
Looking back, Lila said she thought her mother was actually telling her that we could be married.
There was a lot to talk about, so we decided to do so after a good night’s sleep.
We still had unpacking to do. We went to our rooms, but I decided to leave unpacking to the next morning. I just lay on my bed and closed my eyes. I was in a euphoric state thinking about what had just transpired, but there were so many questions to be answered. But, I knew I was one lucky guy.
I was dozing off when I sensed footsteps beside my bed. Then I heard Lila’s voice “stay-over tonight Johnny?” She slid in beside me and cuddled up…….. “lots of extras come with getting married…….remember!!”
The warmth of her up against me was so relaxing I just fell off to sleep. Lila did too.
In the morning I woke with a start and thinking:
Lila’s Dad wanted me to look after her. I don’t think this is exactly what he meant.
Lila was still fast asleep. Not a worry in the world!!
I am the one who would have to front up to her father, who has provided this lovely apartment in which I am living, at his expense! I bet the first thing he says is….”have you been having sex with my daughter, your cousin? …..
I asked you to look after her not seduce her!”

How am I going to concentrate on classes today with all this on my mind?
I looked at Lila still fast asleep. She looked so gorgeous. I could not bear to think of the possibility that we could not be together. Each day I was more in love than ever. In our thinking, we were really like one.
I went to the kitchen to start. Eventually Lila came out, but, completely naked. Seeing Lila naked made it hard to concentrate on what I was doing. Particularly when she came to me, put her arms around my neck, pushed her bare breasts into my chest and kissed me. The eggs were going to be cooked hard!
“Are you coming to breakfast like that?” I asked. “Not if you don’t like me naked?” she replied.
I reminded her of early classes. She looked at me….. “What a nuisance……I had other ideas!”

Our classes finished midday so we came home immediately.
The first thing Lila usually did when we got home was to take off her bra. I sat on the edge of her bed just watching as she took off her top. Next came the bra. She often said how she really did not like wearing a bra – just as she did not like wearing swimmers. But it was something that, sometimes, you had to do.
I thought to myself, if we are to go on a honeymoon, I will suggest Cape D’Adge and see what she says! Then she would not have to wear anything at all. She would not need to buy any swimmers.
I loved watching her undress, a bit at a time. After removing her bra she always placed her hands under her breasts, rubbed along the reddish mark where the bra had been, and slowly up over them. It’s was a job I would gladly do for her. I just never got asked. Maybe I should hint.
I did not think I would like a bra tight around my midriff all the time, but I supposed females were use to it. I thought to myself that I would rather sit, just watching her like this, than go to the movies!

…TELLING PARENTS – A PLAN
The first question was when and what are we going to say to our parents?
I could not envisage just ringing our mothers and saying:
“hi Mum….ringing to let you know we are going to get married in about 6 months…don’t forget to let Dad know when he is home from work……see you soon to work out details……bye!
We concluded we would have to drive home and hopefully get them all together, at the same time, to tell them.
But, Lila said that support would first come from our mothers. Maybe, she should phone and hint to her mother, who would immediately contact my mother and tell her what she thought was in the wind. They would then get together and lay the ground work with our fathers.
We decided we should go no later than 2 weeks time.
I thought I was clear on our strategy, but I had lost concentration towards the end watching Lila’s nipples.
So I said “Lila will you please change that top………your nipples are sticking out in it. I am finding it hard to concentrate on this issue”. “OK” she said and whipped off her top right then and there.
“Lila…” I said “not in the living room………..without warning.”
“I thought you liked my breasts?” She replied.
‘Like them’…that was an understatement. I was mesmerised by their perfection…. “you know what happens when you do that, don’t you?” Still standing there with no top, she responded “don’t worry, it will go down if you get up and make us a coffee”.

I did not know anybody, family or otherwise, to whom this had happened. I was stumped for an answer.
Lila said that they do something special to celebrate and symbolize their decision……. and, it starts with ‘E’……I was stumped……” they buy a ring and announce they are engaged to be married!”
Yes. Now I remembered. I knew both our mothers wore an engagement ring as well as a wedding ring. I had looked at my mother’s ring many times when she had it on the table for cleaning.
Lila said she wanted an engagement ring; wearing it signalled that she was taken. I fully agreed with that idea. I thought it might do a lot to keep the vultures at bay. I suggested we do it straight away. I wondered if Lila knew how much a ring would cost. She nominated a figure she thought prices started from. I had been saving steadily since I started work and knew I had lots more than that in the bank.
Lila said she thought that arriving at our homes with a ring on her finger would give her confidence. Also she could say the ring shop does not give refunds so she would have to keep it.
I needed more than a ring to give me confidence to face Lila’s father.
We purchased a ring that day.
