A dampyre, or daybreaker, is the son of a vampire and a human. The birth of such a creature is an extremely rare occurrence, because of several reasons: the vampires not being interested in sex, the fact that is quite uncommon to see a human and a vampire to get along enough to the point of even falling in love, the fact that not every vampire is fertile, but almost only the ‘fresher’ ones…
However, it has all the strengths of the vampires but none of their weakness: it can walk in the sunlight, silver and garlic don’t hurt him and he is not bothered by crosses.
They can still be killed by a wood stake in the heart, and they can die if severely injured by silver bullets, but simple contact with silver doesn’t hurt them. Most importantly in this case, the blood of a dampyre was highly toxic for other vampires: despite not being deadly in the quantities she had ingested, it would have take her out of action for some time… and possibly, in a painful way.
“I think” said Dale, standing nearby the convulsing vampire “that I’ll fuck you, after all.”

When Mary regained consciousness, she was the one tied to the bed, her whole body still in pain for the poison she ingested.

“Now look.” said the vampire with a smile, switching the torch on again. This time, the circle was replaced by a perfectly shaped cross.
With a hiss, Mary looked away, disturbed by the sight of the holy icon.
“And, finally,” he concluded, reaching her head and grabbing her by her hair, “Look at this.”
The dampyr lifted her head, somehow gently, making her look down on her body, and seeing what he did she froze in place: using the UV light, he burned a three inches cross on her belly, right halfway from her navel to her groin.
With a chilling scream, the vampiress began to buckle wildly, trying to get free from her restraints.
“Did you brand me?!” She yelled, her eyes burning with fury “Did you fucking fire brand me?”
