Skip forward to 1967. I thought I wanted to see the world so I volunteered for an overseas assignment. I was hoping for Germany, England, etc.but got an assignment to Thailand. Now there are some pretty remote assignments in Thailand but I happen to get assigned to Don Maung Royal Thai AFB in Bangkok. This was my first experience of life outside the US.
Well I got immersed in the culture quickly. The guys who had been there a while took me out the first few days I was there and introduced me to the night life in Bangkok. Prostitution is legal and a way to make a great deal of money by Thai standards. So the women flocked to the brothels in Bangkok.
