Introduction:
Adventures in other lands
Truda – Fighting woman
Varick – Protecting Ruler
Harman – Man of the army
——————————————-
They had walked for maybe twenty minutes when they turned a corner and were on the outskirts of a small village. Truda and Angelika squealed like little girls when they saw the open market set up at the other end of town. Alan and Varick both shook their heads as they all started to walk to the other end. Both women were a flurry of activity as the flitted back and forth across the street looking at the various wares for sale.
“How long will they be like this?” Varick whispered to Alan.
“How long? As in they will return to the way they were?” An opened mouth Alan asked, to which Varick and Harman nodded yes. “Uh, the rest of their lives. This wasn’t a temporary fix. I have been putting things where they should be, or where they should have been all this time. There is no ‘temporary’ fix.”
“I’m glad,” Varick replied. “It has been far too long since I have seen her smile and laugh like this. Hell both of them for that matter.” Harman was nodding his agreement with a wide smile on his face.
Alan’s mouth dropped open as he stared at Harman, “here I thought you wanted her to remain a little girl.”
Harman looked at Alan with shock, “It would be nice, but I know that she has to grow, as we all do. No, seeing her happy is what I have always wanted for her.” Looking at Alan and scowling he continued, “I know your type Alan I don’t want her used like I know that you would do.”
Alan held up his hands, “I do not have designs on your sister. Do I have to beat the shit out of you to convince you?”
The look of happiness and the smile that crossed Harman’s face had Alan just shaking his head. Harman had taken a step toward Alan when Truda appeared.
“I suggest brother,” Truda growled, “that if you start a fight with Alan that I be NO WHERE near. I would kick your ass when you both were done. What Alan has given us should make you happy not wanting to fight!”
This time it was Harman who was putting his hands up as he was retreating before his rapidly advancing sister.
Alan could only shake his head again as he heard Harman yell when Truda started to punch her brother. “Ow! Damn it Truda I am only looking after…”
“I,” Truda growled, “am a grown woman and can take care of myself quite well. Do I have to beat you up to prove that?” When Harman started to smile Truda started in again punching her brother.
Varick and Alan started to chuckle as they watched Truda chase her brother unmercifully around the market place. Neither noticed the sudden increase of several large men at both ends of the street. That was ’til a moment later when Alan felt a weak probe stretch out toward them. Snapping up his defenses Alan reached out and gave effectively gave whomever it was a slap. A cry behind them drew their attention to a younger man rolling on the ground.
Harman was suddenly at their side as several of the men helped the young man to his feet. The young man’s face twisted into an angry mask as Alan felt a much more titanic force push toward them. Waving his hand the attack stopped several feet short of him and the others.
<I don’t know who you are, but continue this and you will get hurt. I suggest that you stop before I have to put you out.> Alan thought to the young man. The only answer he got was an increasing of the force that was hitting at Alan’s shields. Sighing Alan was about to tell the youth good night when he felt the other, stronger person on the other side of town. <Alright! You want to piss me off? FINE!> With that, Alan sent out an energy blast that knocked both of the people out.
“Angelika! Truda! Time to go!” Alan told both women as they appeared at his side.
“This isn’t over you monsters!” One of the men shouted as they cradled the young man.
“Monsters? You attacked us! Leave us the hell alone and we will also! Let’s go!” With that Alan thought of the bunker and they were back inside within seconds.
“Assholes!” Alan was letting his pent up anger out blowing holes in the wall. “Son of a bitch called us monsters!? Maybe I should have killed all of those asinine pricks!”
Angelika moved to Alan laying a hand on his shoulder startling him. He was shocked he hadn’t felt her at all. This was good to know now before they were out there and lost their tempers. “You have to calm Alan; I don’t think the bunker can survive if you keep this up.”
Calming Alan realized that she was right. Why had he lost his temper like that while the others hadn’t? Sitting he started to search for the reason.
Back in the village the young man was shaking his head. The young man hadn’t felt power like that for a while now. The last time had been someone called the doctor. The mind had wanted him to do things for him but the young man had refused. The mind had started to attack him when he was drawn back to the village. He could feel the love of the mind that had brought him back, Grandfather!
An older woman was walking up to the young man, “Are you ok? They didn’t hurt you?”
“No mother, just knocked me out. Did you hear that voice? So Far away.” The man told his mother.
“Yes I did, I think we need to talk to your Grandfather about this. I can’t explain it but the thoughts I heard felt familiar,” the woman told the man.
“Now that you mention it they did. You think that Grandfather might know who they are?” The man asked a hint of hope in his voice. “You think it might be them? The ones Grandfather spoke of?”
“I’m not sure Aldrich; we have seen people like this before that came in looking around then left. You should have waited son, I had all of them covered they were safe.”
The young man hung his head, “I am sorry mother, I was afraid when I felt the amount of power that the one they called Alan had. I was afraid that he might try to hurt you. A surprise attack would have defeated them but he felt me when I was gently probing. That was the first time I was detected.”
Aldrich’s mother’s eyes flew wide; they had felt his gentle probing? They needed to get to her father as fast as possible! They might be in actual danger from these five! A jeep pulled up and they were on their way within seconds.
Several miles outside of the village they stopped at a simple farm house. The woman and her son got out as the jeep and went in. Inside were several strong men all gathered around a much older man.
“What news do you bring me?” The old man said with a very clear voice.
“We encountered five in the village father. Aldrich tried to gently probe them but one that they called Alan felt him! Father this has never happened! When he told me I added to his power of the probe. The one called Alan became angry and said in our minds,” Here the woman opened her mind and let the older man hear what she had. <I don’t know who you are, but continue this and you will get hurt. I suggest that you stop before I have to put you out.>
The older man’s head was nodding as he felt no malice in the thoughts he felt. “Then what happened?”
“We both increased the probe but kept hitting what felt like a wall. Then we heard,” <Alright! You want to piss me off? FINE!> “That’s when we felt the huge wave of energy, the next thing I knew I was reeling from whatever it was for a few seconds. Then Aldrich’s father called them monster’s, the one called Alan shouted back,” <Monsters? You attacked us! Leave us the hell alone and we will also! Let’s go!>
The older man was nodding through the whole thing, “How did they get past you? Did they attack?”
“No father that’s the strange thing, when the one called Alan said let’s go, they all vanished! None of the men had ever seen anything like it before! Neither had I, in all the years we have been protecting the village, this is the first I have ever seen like this!” The woman told the older man causing the man to look up suddenly.
“You say they vanished? You didn’t feel anything at all?” The older man asked, to which the woman shook her head. The old man suddenly moved far faster than a man of his advanced years should. “I want all protectors back here now! They are to protect the village! These are the first real threat that we have ever had to face. I only pray that it is them and not another dark force that has descended upon us.”
“Father, are you ok?” The woman asked.
“I don’t know Madde, I don’t know. I fear that all the precautions that we have taken might not be enough. These five if they are in fact here to do harm, may be unstoppable even by me.” The older man said with sadness in his voice. “We need to find out if they are in fact friends or enemies. I hope this isn’t the end of us. I lost one family decades ago during the war, I’m not about to lose another.”
“Aldrich and I could go to this bunker that they are in. If we don’t attack and just stand there we might get them to talk if they are good.” Madde told her father who was nodding and thinking.
“No! I don’t think they will react well to anyone approaching their bunker. I think you should try to talk to the one called Alan. For god’s sake apologize to them all, that in itself might be the olive branch that they need to agree to meet peacefully.” The woman’s father told her.
“Father, it has been a very long time since I have used the thought talk. I’m not really all that sure that I can especially over that long of a distance!” Madde told her father.
“My dear you have to try for all of us, I will be with you, though I cannot enter a mind as you can to communicate. Well neither of you.” The older man said as he looked at his grandson. “Later you and I need to have a talk about acting as quickly and violently as you did. You know I taught you to think far more than that.”
“Yes Grandfather I remember but as I said I was worried about mother. I have never encountered a mind as powerful as this one except for that one time. I could swear I felt you bring me back to the village. Though you told me it had to be a bad dream I still can feel being there then the other place in a moment.” The young man said watching his Grandfather to gauge his reaction. Sighing his disappointment, when the older man didn’t react at all.
“Get everyone back here I want the village protected at all costs. Remember do not attack them, unless they do then you don’t! Do I make myself clear?” The older man shouted with a voice that was far stronger than it should have been.
Harman was seething he’d felt the probing also, wanting to react but found that Alan was by far faster than he was. Why in the hell was Varick putting up with Alan taking over control of their group? He was a hell of a lot happier following Varick than Alan. A moment later his sister Truda walked by and smacked him in the head. “What in the hell was that for?” He asked her hurt.
“You forget I can see and feel your thoughts. I really didn’t like what I was feeling and even less what I was seeing. You need to start accepting that Alan is helping not taking control. If you want, I can talk to the others, we can all let Alan go where ever in the hell he wants to go. No more strengthening no more new abilities nothing, or have you forgotten that Alan helped you to learn to travel with your thoughts?” Truda said giving her brother a hard, don’t screw with me stare.
“No, I haven’t forgotten. Neither have I forgotten what he did to you, nor can I forgive it I…” Harman started then looked at his sister with a startled look, then his breathing came faster as a bulge grew in the front of his pants. Suddenly Harman groaned out as the front of his pants were suddenly wet.
Smiling Truda told Harman, “I am not as defenseless as you think, and even Alan was caught unaware by this though I don’t think much else would.”
Harman’s mouth hung open damn but that had felt good! So that was an orgasm! Now though he needed a shower as he could feel the stickiness in his pants. Standing a little awkward Harman kissed his sister, even as she smirked at him when he rushed off to get cleaned up.
It had taken the better part of the day for Angelika and Varick to calm Alan down. Finally he was resting on the bed, the actions he’d taken that day taking a small toll on him. He just started to drift off when he heard a far off voice. Listening harder he thought he recognized it but wasn’t that sure. Concentrating he finally got a lock on where it was coming from. “I don’t know who this is but if this is an attack, I can guarantee you will get the worse end of it. What do you want?”
Madde started to pull back, it was taking almost all she had to do this. <I am sorry sir. I have not used this ability in a very long time. I will try to finish before I fade.>
Alan was shocked not only was it not an attack but they were apologizing. <Alright you have my attention. Wait I feel another. So it is an attack! I should…>
<Please sir, that is my father he hasn’t used this ability in even longer. He was concerned about me doing this. I am sorry for what my son did. He is still new to all this, we all wish to tell you we are sorry for earlier.> Madde was frightened she could feel far more power from this man’s mind than she’d ever felt before. She was one of the most powerful there after her son and father, this man though had her shaking in fear.
Alan could feel the fear that the woman was feeling, had she felt others? He’d really like to bring her here to talk to her. With all the military types he was feeling nearby he didn’t know if that would be a good idea. Then again it never hurt to ask, now did it? <I can feel that this is tiring you out; may I bring you here to talk to you in person? I don’t want our only contact to pass out.>
Madde looked at her father she wasn’t all that sure about this. “What do you feel father,” she asked.
“It was as you said I still fell no malice towards you or the others, I think it will be alright. Tell him yes.” Her father told her.
<Alright sir, I will be there in about twenty…,” Madde started and was suddenly inside the bunker! Plus she was standing in front of the man called Alan! “But… but…but how?” Was all Madde could get out.
Alan smiled at her she was like the others when he’d done that to them the first time. “That was simple, you were light compared to a lot of things I have moved. Please sit.”
“Sir! They must all be worried, I thought you wanted me to travel overland to this bunker. Not whatever,” here she waved her hands around in the air, “it was that you just did!”
Alan’s face got serious and he nodded. Concentrating he appeared in the house that he’d just removed the woman from. “I am seeking the father of the woman that is now with me.”
“Here young man.” The older man said.
Alan did a double take when he saw the older man, why in the hell did the old man look familiar? “I was told to tell you that,” here Alan paused as he listened to the woman speak. “I am fine Father, please do not launch an attack.”
“Thank you Alan sir.” The older man said causing Alan’s eyes to open wide then he nodded. Alan’s visage faded then the older man started to issue orders. They weren’t to attack unless they were attacked. They were to keep a close watch on the bunker reporting back every few minutes.
Madde looked around the bunker marveling at all the modern equipment that was there. Her eyes got wide when she realized that there were two rooms off this one. This became even more apparent when two women came out of one of the rooms. Then two rather tall blonde men came out of the other. Damn she thought both of the women were beautiful, and the men um, she could hardly take her eyes off them.
“I thought we were going to discuss this before you made a move like this Alan!” Varick tried his best not to shout.
“Sorry, but she was probing again and I had to stop her. She’s no where as powerful as Truda but it is still annoying.” Alan replied.
“Look this wasn’t my idea, I am Madde, Madde Glondike. I guess I should also apologize to you also for the incident earlier today. That, I am afraid was my son. It was his first time in a situation, so he reacted far faster than he should have. He said he was afraid that you were going to hurt me Alan.” Truda was staring at the woman then looked at Alan and nodded. Madde’s mouth dropped open she’d actually felt that! “Did you just probe me? I swear it was a lot like when my son does but it was so gentle like a caress.”
Truda’s mouth dropped agape a caress? She had heard her probes called a lot of things but never a caress! She could tell the woman was well trained though her abilities weren’t nearly as strong as theirs they were still something that would make anyone else think twice about messing with her.
Varick had been staring at the woman the whole time since he’d entered the room. There was something about her that he couldn’t put his finger on. Something that made her feel so familiar it was an uncanny feeling that he couldn’t seem to shake.
Angelika walked up to her brother and nudged him trying to break him out of his reverie. “Varick? Are you alright? You seem to be lost to us here.”
Varick shook his head to clear his thoughts but it stayed there just out of his reach. “I’m not sure Angelika, I could swear that I have seen or met her before but I know that, that isn’t possible.”
Angelika turned and looked closer at the woman for a moment then she too seemed to get lost in her thoughts. “Yes, I can see what you mean it’s right there but I can’t seem to bring it to the surface.”
Alan just shook his head with all the things he’d done, trying to fix their minds as well as what they had done. He could only imagine that their memories were still trying to right their selves as well. “Are you feeling more at ease now Madde?”
The woman was sitting on a couch still somewhat withdrawn from them. “I honestly am trying sir, I am still unsure of all of your intentions. We have been trying to protect our simple village, there are so many bad memories from the war. They still bring many bad memories for many of those here. My father is one of the last from that time who are still alive. He was a teen back during that time, he lost a great amount of family. He considers the village to all be his family, so he has trained the few of us with abilities. We help to defend it against others that would hurt the simple folk there.”
Again Truda looked at Alan and nodded, again Madde’s mouth dropped open. “Ma’am please, could you stop that? It is hard to talk to when you are in there.”
Truda’s mouth dropped open this was only the fourth time she had someone feel her, not once but twice! Who in the hell were these people and how had they come about these abilities they had? She hadn’t felt anything about the doctor or experiments being done on them. As far as she could tell they were born with them almost like Alan!
Alan’s eyes flew wide when he heard Truda’s thoughts (it wasn’t hard considering she was projecting like she was). Maybe Alan thought he should go in though if he did she might get scared and try to fight that wouldn’t be good at all. “Madde may I go into your thoughts? I could strengthen your thought talk ability. I ask I don’t want to hurt you as would happen if I did and you fought me as I feel you would.”
“I’m not sure sir. Though none of you have done anything to show that you mean harm, I am afraid. Your mind is the most powerful I have felt outside of my father’s. So you can see why I am afraid. My mind is all I have now, I have lost many in the family the last few years from others attacking us.” Madde explained to which Alan nodded in fact he could see and understand.
“Alright then I won’t, besides without others to talk to it is pretty pointless, no?” Alan explained to her with a smile. “I should take you back, I expect that we won’t get attacked if we go into town again?”
Madde smiled, “No sir, I don’t think you will be. I thank you for asking me and not pushing, I believe that father will be pleased also.”
Alan smiled then took Madde’s hand and they both were standing in the same building that Alan had projected his self to. There was a moment of yelling then several guns were pointed at Alan, then just as suddenly there were NO guns in the building. “I take it that won’t happen again?” Alan asked as he looked around the room. There were several heads that were shaking no though a few were tight lipped causing Alan to sigh.
Bowing to the older man Alan kissed Madde’s hand then vanished. Leaving a blushing Madde standing before her father. “Here I thought he might be a beast that had ravaged you.” The older man chuckled causing Madde to blush even more.
